CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Salisbury University
field hockey team dropped seven spots to No. 9 in the latest
STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III coaches'
poll released Tuesday.
Salisbury (5-2, 1-0 Capital Athletic Conference) earned a total
of 490 points and one first-place vote. The Sea Gulls
lost to No. 4 Johns Hopkins University (7-0) and No. 5 Messiah
College (3-1) last week.
Bowdoin College (6-0), the defending national champions, remains
at No. 1 as the Polar Bears received 29 first-place votes out
of 41 for 782 points. Eight of the top nine teams received at least
one first-place vote. The rest of the top five include No. 2
Middlebury College (5-0) and No. 3 The College of New Jersey (5-0).
Lebanon Valley College (6-1) edged out Salisbury for the No. 8 spot
by one point.
The Sea Gulls return to action on Wednesday, September 24, as
they travel to Glassboro, N.J., to face No. 7 Rowan
University (4-1) at 7:30 p.m.
