SU moves up to No. 2 in STX/NFHCA poll

CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Salisbury University field hockey team moved up one spot, back to No. 2, in the latest STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III coaches' poll released Tuesday.

Salisbury (5-0, 1-0 Capital Athletic Conference) earned a total of 801 points and four first-place votes. SU is trailing top-ranked Bowdoin College (4-0) by 50 points in the poll. The Gulls are coming off a 4-0 week where they won the SU Invitational and defeated No. 13 Christopher Newport University in overtime. For the week, Salisbury had three shutouts and outscored its opponents 19-1.

The College of New Jersey (4-0), Lebanon Valley College (4-0), and Middlebury College (3-0) round out the top five.

The Sea Gulls return to action on Wednesday, September 17, as they travel to Baltimore to face in-state rival and No. 8 Johns Hopkins University at 7 p.m.
