YORK, Pa. - The Capital
Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference player of the
week awards and Salisbury University junior forward Lauren
Correll (Bridgeville, Del.) was named the
field hockey recipient for the week of September 29.
Correll led the No. 9 Sea Gulls (7-2, 2-0) to their sixth and
seventh shutouts of the season this week as SU posted a 2-0
record. The junior tallied one goal on six shots (three on goal) in
last Wednesday's 2-0 shutout over No. 7 Rowan University. In the
Sea Gulls second shutout of the week, a 3-0 decision over
CAC foe York (Pa.) College, Correll registered one goal on
seven shots (six on goal). Correll leads the maroon and gold in
points (18), goals (eight), and is tied for second in assists
(two).
Correll is the second Salisbury player to receive CAC Player of
the Week honors this season. Sophomore Kandice
Hancock was the recipient for September 15.
Salisbury will remain in conference play as it will host
Rt. 13 rival Wesley College on Wednesday, October 1, at 6
p.m.
