Sep 18, 2007 Sea Gulls move up to No. 5 in STX/NFHCA pollGLEN ALLEN, Va. - The Salisbury University
field hockey team moved up three spots in the latest STX/National
Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III coaches' poll
released Tuesday as the Sea Gulls are now No. 5 in the country.
Salisbury (6-1) earned one first-place vote and 410 points to
move ahead of No. 6 Christopher Newport University (380 points).
The top seven teams all received one first-place vote along with
two other teams ranked No. 12 and No. 15 in the poll. Messiah
College earned the most first-place votes (12) but is No. 2 in the
poll right behind defending national champion Ursinus College, who
edged out the Falcons by three points 518 to 515.
SU is in action this afternoon as the maroon and gold travels to
Westminster, Md., to compete against in-state rival McDaniel
College. The game begins at 4:30 p.m.
