SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University senior
Ashley Cartrette (Greensboro, Md.), a four-year
letterwinner on the Sea Gull field hockey team, was named the
September Sea Gull Superstar awarded by the Office of Alumni
Relations and Annual Giving.
The Sea Gull Superstar award is given out monthly to a current
SU student who shows SU pride, exudes academic excellence and is
actively involved in student organizations and events.
Cartrette, a nursing major, has been extremely busy in the
classroom and in the community during her four years at SU. She has
helped out with Sea Gull Century, Fun Day, Habitat for Humanity and
has been a two-year captain for Relay for Life.
On the athletic field Cartrette has played in five games this
season for the fourth ranked Sea Gulls and has been a role player
the other three seasons for the maroon and gold. She was a member
of two national championship teams in 2004 and 2005.
This January, Cartrette will join a group of SU nursing
students, faculty, alumni and friends that will travel to Tanzania,
West Africa, with Global Service Corps to teach HIV/AIDS prevention
classes in various villages.
