ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Capital Athletic
Conference field hockey championship will have to go through
Salisbury, Md., in 2007 as the Sea Gulls earned the top-seed in the
upcoming tournament. The top-seed Sea Gulls, ranked No. 2 in the
country, received a first round bye and will host either
fourth-seed Villa Julie College or fifth-seed University of Mary
Washington on Wednesday, October 31, in the semifinals at Sea Gull
Stadium. A game time has not been determined.
Salisbury (15-1, 6-0 CAC) has won every single CAC field hockey
tournament it has participated in since joining the conference in
1995. Last season, the Sea Gulls had to go on the road to win their
12th straight CAC championship as they beat top-seed Catholic
University of America, 3-1.
If Salisbury wins on Wednesday it will host the championship on
Saturday, November 3, at Sea Gull Stadium. St. Mary's (Md.) College
is the No. 2 seed and Wesley College is the No. 3 seed in the other
half of the bracket.
Salisbury will close out the regular season this Wednesday
(October 24) with a road game against Catholic at 4 p.m.
