Nov 13, 2007 Sea Gulls place five on NFHCA All-Region teamGLEN ALLAN, Va. - The National Field Hockey
Coaches Association announced its 2007 Longstreth/NFHCA Division
III All-Region teams and the Sea Gulls of Salisbury University had
five players honored on the South Region team.
Salisbury placed four players on the first team headlined by senior
captain Danielle Twilley. On the year, the
All-American back, has scored 14 goals (ranked 3rd in the Capital
Athletic Conference, 3rd on the team), five assists (6th, 4th), 33
points (3rd, 3rd) and is 5-for-7 on converting penalty strokes. The
four year starter and 2007 CAC Player of the Year has started in
85-of-85 games played in her career with 63 total points, 23 goals
and 17 assists.
The sophomore scoring tandem of Beverly Beladino
and Lauren Correll each earned a spot on the South
Region first team. Correll leads the CAC's top scoring team with 83
shots, 3.95 shots per game, 45 points, 2.14 points per game, 21
goals, a one goal per game average and eight game winning goals
which all sit her atop the CAC as well. In her two-year career
Correll has amassed 92 points with 40 goals and 12 assist as she
has started in 42-of-42 career games.
Beladino has recorded 35 points (2nd, 2nd), 16 goals (2nd, 2nd), 57
shots (6th, 3rd) and five game-winning goals with three assists
this season. In her freshman campaign, Beladino scored eight goals
with four assists for a total of 20 points.
Rounding out the first team is SU's four-year starter in goal,
senior Maria Ramoundos. The net minder sports a
20-0 record this season with only 11 goals against (1st, 1st), a
0.77 goals against average (1st, 1st), 77 saves (5th, 1st) with
seven shutouts (1st, 1st). In her 81 career appearances in goal
Ramoundos has put together an amazing 77-4 record as she has only
given up 58 goals with 236 saves in over 5,240 minutes in the
cage.
The Sea Gulls' lone second team representative is senior defender
Kristina Holland. The three-year starter has
recorded nine defensive saves (2nd, 1st) on the year and leads the
CAC's top defensive team which only gives up 0.67 goals per game
and has 10 shutouts.
