Sea Gulls recognized for Academic Achievement

SALISBURY, Md. - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its 2006 NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award earlier this week and Salisbury University was among the 86 schools recognized.

To be recognized a team must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Sea Gulls are joined by four other Capital Athletic Conference teams which includes York (Pa.) and St. Mary's (Md.) who were ranked in the top five.

In addition to the team award, nine Salisbury players were recognized as members of the 2006 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. These players are Jennifer Bandy, Jerre Carter, Lauren Correll, Angela Difabio, Jami Gobao, Megan Maloney, Abby Rowe, Lynette Sgrignoli and Ashley Spencer.

York (Pa.) and St. Mary's (Md.) each had 15 players on the National Academic Squad while Goucher matched Salisbury's nine players with nine of its own.
