WACO, TEXAS – The Salisbury University football team earned a spot in the American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches' Poll for the first time this season, taking over at No. 23, the organization announced this week.
After defeating New Jersey Athletic Conference-foe Kean University 45-33 on Saturday, the Sea Gulls garnered 103 points in the poll. Salisbury is now on a five-game winning streak and holds a 5-0 record in NJAC play.
With the unbeaten conference record, the Gulls are tied with No. 4 Wesley College at the top of the NJAC, as the Wolverines earned 909 points in the AFCA poll.
No. 1 University of Mount Union remained at the top spot in the country with 1,044 points and 37 first-place votes. The top five was rounded out by No. 2 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (993 points and two first-place votes), No. 3 Linfield College (975 points), Wesley, and No. 5 Wheaton College (864 points).
The Sea Gulls are next in action on Saturday, October 31 at Sea Gull Stadium, hosting Christopher Newport University in NJAC action. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
