PITMAN, N.J. - After being a big part of the Salisbury University football team's record-breaking game against William Paterson University on Saturday, senior Jerome Johnson earned his first New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award, the league announced on Sunday.
Johnson rushed for a career-high 204 yards and two touchdowns in the game, as the Sea Gulls broke the team single-game rushing record with a 651-yard performance. He ran eight times, with seven going for 10 or more yards, with a long of 51 yards. Johnson also posted two rushes of 36 yards, including one of his touchdowns, and rushes of 22 and 21 yards. His other score came on a 10-yard run.
The 204-yard total was the highest individual single-game total since Joe Benedetti ran for 216 yards against Christopher Newport University on September 1, 2012.
The Sea Gulls head out on the road for their next game, going to Kean University in NJAC action on Saturday, October 24; the opening kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
