Statement regarding Salisbury-TCNJ football game

SALISBURY, Md. - The National Weather Service has issued  flood warnings for Wicomico and other counties in Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey until 6:00 a.m. Monday while Maryland Governor Hogan declared a state of emergency covering 15 counties, including Wicomico County. With the potential danger associated with flooding on roads and other low-lying areas, Salisbury University's Emergency Management Team made the decision, in the interest of student safety, to cancel athletic and all other University events. The safety of our students and student-athletes is the primary concern. Salisbury, The College of New Jersey, and New Jersey Athletic Conference officials have been working toward a solution, and possible reschedule date for the game within NJAC rules and regulations, but at this time those efforts have been unsuccessful. The inability to find a date to reschedule has resulted in the need to cancel the game. While both schools and the league regret this decision, the health and safety of the student-athletes is paramount.
