PITMAN, N.J. – In its first season as a member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, the Salisbury University football team will enter 2015 voted No. 3 in the NJAC Coaches' Preseason Poll, the league announced on Thursday.
Salisbury is coming off a 7-4 season, including a 5-3 record in the team's final season in the Empire 8 Athletic Conference. The year culminated in a 48-27 victory over Albright College in the Eastern College Athletic Conference South Atlantic Bowl.
The Sea Gulls are one-of-four new associate football members joining the NJAC this season, along with Wesley College, Christopher Newport University, and Frostburg State University.
Wesley took the top spot in the poll, earning nine first-place votes, while No. 2 Rowan University took the final first-place vote. No. 4 Montclair State University and No. 5 Christopher Newport rounded out the top five.
Salisbury kicks its season off on Friday, September 4 on the road against Albright, with the opening kickoff set for 7 p.m.
