MIAMI – While most of the national football league players will be spending their Sunday battling the elements including snow and cold weather, two Salisbury University football players will be basking in the sun of south Florida, as seniors Andre Carter and John Dankos will play in the 2013 National Bowl at Florida International University.
Carter and Dankos are among 80 players expected to play.
Carter was named the Empire 8 Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and to the league's first team after making 48 tackles and a team-high six interceptions this season.
Dankos was an honorable mention All-Empire 8 selection, as one of the mainstays on the offensive line which helped the Gulls to the 11th-ranked rushing offense in the nation, averaging 284.6 yards per game.
Salisbury posted a 7-4 record in 2013, including a win in the ECAC South Atlantic Bowl at Muhlenberg College.
