SALISBURY, Md. – The College Sports Information Directors of America released its Capital One Academic All-District football teams on Thursday and Salisbury University junior punter Kyle Hamby was named to the District 2 team.
Hamby has been one of the most dangerous punters in the nation this season. He currently leads the Empire 8 Athletic Conference and ranks eighth in the nation in punting average, with a 41.4-yard average.
The Laurel, Md., native has been named the Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Week three times in his career and was named the league's Special Teams Player of the Year as a sophomore.
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.30 grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on his team. Hamby boasts a 3.34 cumulative grade-point average, and is majoring in exercise science.
Hamby is now eligible to be selected as an Academic All-American; that team will be announced on Dec. 3.
Hamby and the Sea Gulls are in action this Saturday, Nov. 9 at 12 p.m., welcoming No. 24 Ithaca College to Sea Gull Stadium for a key Empire 8 contest.
