SU alum James McCormick named Ravens High School Coach of the Week

BALTIMORE, Md. - Salisbury University alumnus James McCormick was recently named Baltimore Ravens High School Coach of the Week for the week of Sept. 21. McCormick, class of 1994, is the head coach of the North Caroline Bulldogs of Caroline County.

McCormick won the honor after his team defeated Stephen Decatur High School 20-19 on Friday, Sept. 18. The Bulldogs sealed the victory late in the contest, when a North Caroline defender blocked an extra point attempt that would have tied the game. McCormick has led the Bulldogs to one of their best starts in program history as they are 3-0 entering this Friday's contest with Wicomico High School.

McCormick was a member of the SU football team from the fall of 1990 through fall of 1993. McCormick was recruited as a quarterback and was later moved to safety for his junior and senior seasons. The Smryna, Del., native finished the '93 season with 74 tackles (17 solo, 57 assisted).

The Ravens High School Coach of the Week program is in its 13th year of existence. All coaches that win the honor will receive a $2,000 donation to the school's football program, an award certificate signed by Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and a specially-designed hat. McCormick and other weekly winners will be present at the Ravens-Detroit Lions game on December 13, for the naming of the Raven's High School Coach of the Year award.
