Sea Gulls move into D3football.com Top 25
MINNEAPOLIS - The Salisbury University football team moved into the D3football.com top 25 this week at No. 24. The Sea Gulls collected 102 points and are one of three unranked teams from the preseason poll to move into the top 25.
Defending national champion Mount Union College (1-0) retained the No. 1 spot as the Purple Raiders received 23 first-place votes and 623 points. The Purple Raiders defeated St. John Fisher 52-10 on Saturday. University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (1-0) collected two first-place votes and 602 total points in their 38-3 win over Dickinson State University. University of Mary-Hardin Baylor (0-0) remains at No. 3 with 572 points. Hardin-Simmons University (1-0) moved up one spot from No. 5 to No. 4. The Cowboys collected 515 points after their 48-31 win over Whitworth College. Wheaton (Ill.) College (0-0) rounds out the top five as the Thunder garnered 506 points.
Atlantic Central Football Conference (ACFC) member and Route-13 rival Wesley College (1-0) ascended three spots from No. 9 to No. 6. The Wolverines defeated Christopher Newport University 34-0 on Saturday.
The Sea Gulls will debut their new national ranking this weekend when they travel to North Carolina Wesleyan (0-1). The meeting will be the first between the two schools.
