Athletic training club to hold food drive at Regents Cup game

SALISBURY, Md. - When the Salisbury University football team takes the field Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium, it will be looking to defeat the Frostburg State University football team and retain possession of the Regents Cup. When the Salisbury University athletic training club comes to Sea Gull Stadium, it will be looking to defeat hunger.

For more than 10 years, the athletic training club has held a canned food drive near the end of the season. Fans are encouraged to bring a canned food item to Saturday's game, which will be collected at the main gate into Sea Gull Stadium. All of the donated food will be go to support The Joseph House here in Salisbury. In addition to whatever canned goods are collected, the program also donates about a dozen turkeys each year.

In the years that the athletic training club has been holding their canned food drive, they have collected approximately 2,500 cans.

The Joseph House is a non-profit charitable organization that helps the poor and homeless. It is administered by the Little Sisters of Jesus and Mary, a community of Catholic women religious based in Salisbury.
