Hudson, Cynewski named to D3football.com All-Region teams
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - After each player was named to the All-Atlantic Central Football Conference First Team last month, seniors Brandon Hudson (Delmar, Md.) and Paul Cynewski (Moorestown, N.J.) received another accolade when they were named to the D3football.com All-South Region team this week.
Hudson, a defensive back, was named to the All-South Region first team. He broke a five-year-old school record for interceptions in a season, picking off nine passes in 2009, breaking the mark of current Washington Redskin Byron Westbrook. Hudson also recorded 51 tackles, the fifth-highest total on the team.
The Delmar, Md., product ranks tied for second in the nation in interceptions per game (.82) and he is ranked third in the nation in punt return average, with 16.27 yards per return.
Cynewski, a defensive end, was named to the third team. He closed
out his career in maroon and gold with a stellar season, posting
career-highs in tackles (62), with 40 solo tackles, tackles for
loss (23.5) and forced fumbles (two). His nine sacks were a team
high this year, and one-half sack short of his career best.
The Moorestown, N.J., native ranks fifth in the nation in tackles for loss, averaging 2.14 per game, and tied for 39th in sacks, posting .82 per game.
Being named to the All-South Region team, both players are now eligible for consideration as D3football.com All-Americans. That team will be announced on Dec. 19, as part of D3football.com's Stagg Bowl pregame show.
Additionally, each player was invited to an All-Star game this winter. Hudson participated in the D3 Football Senior Classic in Salem, Va., on Dec. 5. Cynewski will take part in the Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of Stars) near Mexico City on Dec. 19.
