Curley collects third ACFC Offensive Player of the Week honor
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic Central Football Conference (ACFC) named its players of the week for November 17 and Salisbury University senior quarterback Ronnie Curley was named Offensive Player of the Week after his performance in Salisbury's 55-14 victory over Frostburg State University last Saturday. This is the third ACFC award for Curley this season.
The Ellicott City, Md., product was named the Mike McGlinchey Most Outstanding Player for the Sea Gulls after he rushed for 99 yards on 15 carries (6.6 yards per carry). He scored his 11th and 12th rushing touchdowns of the season, including the game's opening score. The senior threw for 43 yards and one touchdown as well. Curley now has 157 carries and 965 yards rushing on the season for a team leading 6.1 yards per carry.
Curley was joined by Wesley College's Sean Matthews (Defensive Player of the Week), The Apprentice School's Bryan Cain (Special Teams) and Frostburg State's Josh Volpe (Rookie).
For Salisbury, this is the eighth week this season that a Sea Gull has earned an ACFC award. Shelby Fisher was credited as Offensive Player of the Week for October 27. Curley (Offensive Player of the Week) and Tommy Kowalick (Rookie of the Week) received the honor for October 20. Bryan Woolson was named Offensive Player of the Week for October 13. Randal Smedley was named Rookie of the Week for October 6. Matt Barnes was named the Defensive Player of the Week for September 28. Paul Cynewski received the same honor for September 22 while Curley (Offense) and Smedley (Rookie) earned honors for September 15.
