SU climbs to No. 13 in AFCA poll

WACO, Texas - The American Football Coaches Association released its latest Top 25 and Salisbury University climbed five spots to No. 13 after its 62-14 win over Apprentice School last Saturday afternoon.

The Sea Gulls (5-0, 2-0 ACFC) have won eight straight games dating back to last year and are off to the program's best start since 2004 when SU went 10-0 in the regular season.

The maroon and gold also moved up three spots in the D3football.com poll to No. 15 and are ranked No. 13 by Don Hansen.

St. John Fisher took the biggest hit this week as they dropped 13 spots from No. 5 to No. 18 after a loss after its 31-28 loss to Hartwick. Wisconsin-La Crosse fell eight spots to No. 12 after it lost to then No. 8 Wisconsin-Whitewater 35-28.

Wesley College (4-1) remains the only other Atlantic Central Football Conference team in the top 25 as the Wolverines are ranked No. 16.

The Sea Gulls return to action on Saturday, October 6, as they travel to Beaver Falls, Pa., to face Geneva College at 6 p.m. in a non-conference game.
