STERLING, Va. - The
D3football.com 2007 All-American teams were announced recently and
Salisbury University junior Jarrell Chandler (Salisbury,
Md./Wicomico) was named to the second team at defensive
end. This is one of many accolades Chandler has received this
season as the Salisbury, Md., native was named to the Atlantic
Central Football Conference first team, the D3football.com
All-South region third team and was selected to the D3football.com
Team of the Week (Week One).
Chandler ranked fifth in the nation in tackles for loss per game
with a 2.2 average and also forced three fumbles and had one
interception. He ranked fourth on the team with 57 tackles and was
top on the team in sacks and tackles for loss with 11 and 31,
respectively.
The Sea Gulls finished the season 9-2 and made the program's
first NCAA playoff appearance since 2004. Salisbury won eight
straight games to begin the year and totaled an 11-game win streak
dating back to last season.
This is the second straight year Salisbury has had someone named
to one of the D3football.com All-American teams. Since 1999, five
Sea Gulls have earned this honor.
