Three Sea Gulls earn a spot on the D3football.com All-Region Teams
STERLING, Va.- The
D3football.com 2007 All-South Region Teams were announced recently
and Salisbury University was represented with three players on one
of the three respected teams. Junior David Preston
was selected as a second team member at offensive line while fellow
junior Jarrell Chandler and senior Joe
Galloway earned third team honors at defensive line.
Preston anchored the Salisbury offensive line that ranked second in
the country in rushing per game. The Sea Gulls ran off 323.8 yards
per game and scored just under 40 points a contest. Four times this
season SU ran for over 350 yards, highlighted by a 596-yard effort
against Becker College. Preston and the rest of the offensive line
were honored by D3football.com earlier this year being named to the
D3football.com Team of the Week on two separate occasions. The SU
rushing attack averaged 6.5 yards per carry.
Chandler and Galloway paired to make one of the most effective
one-two punches on a defensive line in the country. Chandler ranked
fourth on the team with 57 tackles and was top on the team in sacks
and tackles for loss with 11 and 31, respectively.
Chandler ranked fifth in the nation in tackles for loss per game
with a 2.2 average and also forced three fumbles and had one
interception.

tackles. He had 15 tackles for loss for 60 yards and added six
sacks for 46 yards while he recorded one pass breakup and one
forced fumble on the year.
The Sea Gulls finished this season 9-2 and advanced to the
program's first NCAA postseason since 2004. Salisbury won eight
straight games to begin the year and totaled an 11-game win streak
dating back to last season.
