April Higgins will be joining the staff of Salisbury University for the 2011-2012 season as the head cheerleading coach. She is from Laurel, Del., and currently coaches at the High Voltage All Stars in Salisbury, Md.

Higgins has been a cheerleading coach for a number of different organizations over the past 11 years. In earlier years, she assisted with her local Pop Warner organization. For the past seven years she has coached competitive cheerleading squads on the all-star level. During that time she has led her athletes to numerous state and national titles including a World Championship title at Final Destination.

“For the last several years coaching has become a large part of my life,” Higgins said. “Watching these athletes grow, achieve and surpass their goals brings me great pleasure. I am so excited to be with Salisbury University and look forward to working with these young adults.”
