Baseball ranked No. 24 in preseason poll

TUCSON, Ariz. – The American Baseball Coaches Association released its national preseason poll and the Salisbury University baseball team ranks 24th in the country with 219 points heading into the 2019 season. The Sea Gulls finished the 2018 season ranked at No. 26.

Salisbury finished the 2018 season with a 34-12 record that included its 15th Capital Athletic Conference title. The team advanced to the NCAA tournament for the eighth straight year and 24th time in program history, but fell short of earning a College World Series berth with a loss to Baldwin Wallace University in the Auburn, N.Y. regional round.

Wooster College leads the preseason rankings with 285 points. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater comes in at No. 2 with 281 points. Swarthmore College (279), Trinity (Conn.) College (275) and Misericordia University (272) round out the top five.

Wooster, Swarthmore, and Misericordia each appeared in the 2018 Division III College World Series. The 2018 national champion — University of Texas at Tyler — was omitted from the preseason rankings with its transition to NCAA Division II.
