The Salisbury University baseball team returned to action on day two of the first round of the CAC tournament against York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday, May 5th. Starting pitcher Wes Whitlock found his groove early and got York’s Christian Bilan to strike out swinging to end the top of the first. The Sea Gulls scored their first run of the day in the bottom of the first on this RBI double by Scott Ardoin, driving Justin Meekins home from 2nd base. York came knocking in the second inning, but Whitlock was able to get Collin Crowell to ground into an inning-ending double play to avoid any damage. Ardoin answered the call a second time, launching a solo home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the fifth inning. Meekins blasted a two-run knock an inning later to push the Sea Gull lead to 8-0 Whitlock would go the distance to earn his fifth win of the season as Salisbury defeated York College, 11-3 and advances to the conference championship series next weekend. The team will host third-seeded Penn State University-Harrisburg in the best-of-three series, with game one set for Friday, May 11 at 3:30 p.m.
