Baseball jumps to No. 19 in latest poll; enters ABCA poll at No. 27

SALISBURY, MD. – The organizations and the American Baseball Coaches Association released their weekly national rankings on Tuesday afternoon. Salisbury University baseball was recognized by both organizations, jumping up to No. 19 in the poll and entering the ABCA poll at No. 27.

The Sea Gulls (23-7) have won 13 straight contests since a 13-1 victory over Franklin and Marshall College back on March 27. The most notable of those wins came on April 12 against then No. 5 Christopher Newport University, 17-7. The team has posted a run differential of plus-87 during its current win streak.

Trinity (Texas) University remains atop the rankings, receiving 16 of the possible 25 first-place votes. Wooster College sits at No. 2 after receiving four first-place votes, and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater received three first-place votes to earn the No. 3 spot. Randolph-Macon University and the University of Massachusetts-Boston round out the top five.

Trinity also stayed at No. 1 in the ABCA poll, but the similarities end there. Rowan University comes in at No. 2 in the poll, while Randolph-Macon, Concordia University Chicago, and Wooster round out the top five.

Salisbury will return to action on Wednesday, April 18 when it hosts Capital Athletic Conference opponent Marymount (Va.) University. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
