As part of Division III Week, we are giving our fans the opportunity to learn more about our student-athletes. Let's get to know Jack Barry...
Sport: Baseball
Year: Junior
Major: Communications
Hometown: Laurel, Maryland
High School: Reservoir High School
When did you start playing your sport and how did you get involved with it?
I started playing baseball when I was about three years old. My parents took me to a ton of Orioles and Yankees games as a kid which was a big reason for me falling in love with the game at an early age.
What is your greatest athletic accomplishment?
Being selected for the Power Showcase at Marlins Park in Miami this past winter was one of the coolest baseball moments ever, and I got to help out a great organization support breast cancer patients along the way.
What is your favorite memory of playing at Salisbury University?
Winning back-to-back conference championships in 2016 and 2017 and continuing the 18-year streak of regional appearances.
Who is your biggest hero, athletically or otherwise, and why?
My parents are my heroes. They've made so many sacrifices to set me up for success and have supported me 100 percent no matter what.
What is your favorite part of being a student (not just a student-athlete) at Salisbury University?
The campus is large, but also has a small school feel to it. It seems like everyone knows everyone else. It's a very tight knit community here. Being close to the beach isn't too bad either.
What do you like to do when you're not at practice, at a game or in class?
Hang out with my teammates, fish, hunt, play golf, eat and listen to music.
What are your plans after graduation?
Hopefully to obtain a position getting paid to do something I enjoy, but before that I would like to travel and see some new places.
