Baseball moves to No. 10 in poll and stays at No. 12 in ABCA poll

SALISBURY, Md. - The organizations and the American Baseball Coaches Association released their week 10 Top 25 polls Tuesday afternoon. Salisbury University baseball was recognized by both and the ABCA earning the No. 10 ranking in the poll and the No. 12 ranking in the ABCA poll.

The Sea Gulls turned in a 1-1 week falling to Drew University on April 27 by the final score of 3-2 on a walk-off but turned around to take down the then top team in the nation, Shenandoah University, 8-4 on Sunday, April 30 at Shenandoah. Pete Grasso captured his eighth win of the season going six inning allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out five batters. Micah Wells picked up his first save of the season going three innings allowing no runs or hits while striking out six of the 10 batters he faced. Jay Perry led the team with three RBI and went 3-for-4 from the plate with a three run bomb for his ninth home run of the season.

LeGrange College enters this week as the No. 1 team in the country according to Birmingham-Southern College comes in as No. 2 while Shenandoah is now ranked No. 3. Johns Hopkins University and The College of Wooster round out the top five as No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.

The ABCA poll saw a slightly different top five this week. The top two teams in the country were the same as LeGrange sits atop the poll with Birmingham-Southern right behind. The No. 3 ranking belongs to University of Texas at Tyler while the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater comes in at No. 4. Johns Hopkins rounded out the top five with the No. 5 ranking.

Salisbury returns to action on Sunday, May 7 when it hosts Catholic University of America. The start time has yet to be announced.
