YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards for baseball on Monday afternoon and Salisbury University senior Tyler Hrycak and junior Ryan Daiss each earned honors this week for their performances in a 19-7 win against Stevenson University.
Hrycak was named co-Player of the Week thanks to a 4-for-4 effort in the contest, as he drove in a career-high seven runs. In back-to-back innings, Hrycak drove in runs during bases-loaded situations with a bases-clearing double and then a grand slam.
Daiss earned the win in the contest, working four innings in relief, surrendering just three hits and one unearned run while striking out five Mustangs. The win is Daiss' second of the season.
The Sea Gulls, who won the 2016 CAC tournament, are awaiting the announcement of the NCAA tournament field on Sunday, May 15 to find out where they will be headed for postseason play. In the meantime, Salisbury heads to Rutgers University-Camden for a doubleheader next Thursday, May 12.
