SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University baseball team moved up in both national polls this week, jumping up to No. 13 in the D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association Top 25 and No. 18 in the American Baseball Coaches' Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Baseball poll, the organizations announced.
The Sea Gulls earned 317 points in the D3baseball.com poll and 172 points in the ABCA poll, following a week in which they won the program's 13th Capital Athletic Conference championship.
In the conference tournament, the Gulls went 4-0, including two wins on the final day of the championship weekend at Frostburg State University. Salisbury began the day with an 11-10 win over Marymount (Va.) University to advance to the championship game; the Gulls took down Frostburg, 9-8, in the title game. Senior Kyle Goodwin smacked two home runs and drove in four RBI in the win over the Bobcats.
Salisbury begins its final stretch of regular-season games this week, hosting Stevenson University at the SU Baseball Field on Tuesday, April 26; the game is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
