Baseball ranked in top 15 of both national polls

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University baseball team continued to hold a spot in the national rankings this week, coming in at No. 11 in the Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 and No. 14 in the American Baseball Coaches' Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III baseball poll, the organizations announced.

Salisbury posted a 2-2 week last week, with wins in Capital Athletic Conference play. The Sea Gulls defeated Wesley College 22-13 on Wednesday, before splitting a doubleheader with Frostburg State University on Saturday, picking up an 8-4 win in the second game.

In the poll, the Sea Gulls earned 308 points for the 11th spot, and in the ABCA poll, the Gulls garnered 232 points for the No. 14 ranking.

Christopher Newport University was the only other CAC team to be in both polls, taking No. 14 in and No. 17 in ABCA. Frostburg and University of Mary Washington also took spots in the poll at Nos. 16 and 18, respectively.

Both polls had the same top-three teams with No. 1 Trinity (Texas) University, No. 2 State University of New York at Cortland, and No. 3 Birmingham-Southern College. The polls differed in the final two top-five spots, with No. 4 Ramapo College of New Jersey and No. 5 University of Southern Maine in and No. 4 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and No. 5 Ramapo rounding out the ABCA rankings.

The Sea Gulls return to action on Wednesday, March 23, traveling to Marymount (Va.) University for a CAC single game; the first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
