GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Salisbury University baseball team came in at No. 8 in the first regular-season American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Baseball Poll, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Sea Gulls earned 332 points in the poll, after starting their season 8-3. Salisbury posted a 4-0 record in the past week and are coming off of a double-header sweep of Capital Athletic Conference-foe Southern Virginia University on Saturday.
No. 1 State University of New York at Cortland earned all 16 first-place votes and 480 points to keep its preseason ranking. No. 2 Birmingham-Southern College (439 points), No. 3 Trinity (Texas) University (405 points), No. 4 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (386 points), and No. 5 Emory University (373 points) rounded out the top-five teams.
The Sea Gulls continue their season on Tuesday, March 15 against Kean University; the first pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
