YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly baseball awards on Monday afternoon and Salisbury University senior Kyle Goodwin was named the league's Player of the Week.
Goodwin helped Salisbury to a 2-1 week, as he was relentless at the plate, batting .667 (10-for-15) with eight runs driven in, eight runs scored and three home runs. The Salisbury, Maryland native accounted for half of the team's hits during a 9-5 win against Johns Hopkins University, and more than half of the runs.
With two doubles and a triple during the week, Goodwin slugged 1.533 while accumulating 23 total bases.
This season, he is leading the team with a .423 batting average, 11 runs, three home runs, and is just off the team lead with eight runs driven in. His .559 slugging percentage is tops on the team, as well.
Goodwin and the Sea Gulls are in action on Tuesday, March 8, hosting Neumann University at the SU Baseball Field, beginning at 3 p.m.
