SALISBURY, Md. – For the second-straight season, senior pitcher Dan Fein of the No. 4 Salisbury University baseball team was placed on the Capital One Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
Fein, who has been one of Salisbury's top starting pitchers this season, has earned a 5-0 record on the hill, boasting a 2.83 ERA, which ranks eighth in the Capital Athletic Conference. The Southbury, Connecticut native has recorded 33 strikeouts and has only walked seven batters in 54 innings of work on the mound.
Fein and the Sea Gulls will take on Rutgers University-Camden in a single-game matchup at the SU Baseball Field on Friday, May 8, with a start time of 3 p.m.
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on his team. Fein boasts a 4.00 grade-point average, and is majoring in math education.
Fein is now eligible to be selected to the Capital One Academic All-American Team. Salisbury has had four Academic All-Americans in baseball, most recently Andrew Levy, who earned the accolade in 2013. The Academic All-American Team will be announced later this month.
