YORK, Pa. – For his strong performance against the College of Staten Island on Saturday, junior Jeff Oster of the No. 4 Salisbury University baseball team earned the first Capital Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week accolade of his career, the league announced on Monday.
Against Staten Island, Oster took the mound in the top of the seventh with a 6-3 Salisbury lead and pitched the final three innings. The Jefferson, New Jersey native retired the side in order all three innings, recording eight strikeouts in a row to end game. Oster also picked up the first save of his career during his spectacular performance on the hill.
Oster boasts a 2.65 ERA on the season in his 17 innings of work on the mound and has garnered 26 strikeouts so far.
The Sea Gulls will travel to Baltimore on Tuesday to take on Johns Hopkins University in a single-game matchup. The first pitch is set for 3 p.m.
