SALISBURY, Md. – After notching a 5-2 victory over Washington (Md.) College on Wednesday, April 23, the Salisbury University baseball team moved up to No. 4 in the American Baseball Coaches' Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Baseball Poll, while holding the fifth spot in the D3baseball.com poll, the organizations announced.
The Sea Gulls took down the Shoremen last Wednesday in their only game of the week. Senior Brett Collacchi pitched eight innings in the game and earned the win on the mound, moving him up to second place in program history in wins with 29 in his career.
In the ABCA poll, State University of New York at Cortland, Frostburg State University, and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater remain in the top three spots, respectively, while Birmingham-Southern College dropped a spot to No. 5 in the nation.
The top three teams in the ABCA are the same in the D3baseball.com poll, with Cortland State, Frostburg State and Wisconsin-Whitewater holding the first three spots. Birmingham-Southern, which was sixth last week, jumped up two spots to take No. 4.
Salisbury will be back in action on Saturday, May 2 when they take on the College of Staten Island at the SU Baseball Field for senior day. The first game is set for 12 p.m.
