Salisbury baseball sits at 4/5 in latest national polls

SALISBURY, Md. – After making a run all the way to the Capital Athletic Conference championship game, the Salisbury University baseball team sits at No. 4 in the poll and holds the No. 5 spot in the American Baseball Coaches' Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Baseball Poll, the organizations announced.

The Sea Gulls (24-4) earned wins over Wesley College, Christopher Newport University, and University of Mary Washington in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament before falling to then-No. 3 Frostburg State University in the championship game.

The State University of New York at Cortland remains at the No. 1 spot in the poll with 620 points, while Frostburg State garnered 599 points for the No. 2 ranking. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater dropped one spot from last week to No. 3 with 578 points, and Kean University remained at fifth in the nation, accumulating 492 points. Mary Washington is the third CAC team in the top 25, sitting at No. 25 in the media poll.

In the ABCA poll, the top three teams are the same as the poll, with Cortland State, Frostburg State, and Wisconsin-Whitewater taking first three spots, respectively. Birmingham-Southern College moved up three spots from last week, taking No. 4 in the nation. Mary Washington moved down four spots to the No. 28 spot in the top-30 poll this week.

The Sea Gulls will be in action on Wednesday, April 22 when they travel to take on Washington (Md.) College in a single-game matchup. That game is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
