SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University baseball team recorded another undefeated week of action to remain the No. 1 team in the nation in the D3baseball.com poll and No. 3 in the American Baseball Coaches' Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Baseball Poll, the organizations announced.
After going 6-0 on the week, the Sea Gulls hold up the No. 1 spot in the D3baseball.com poll for the third-consecutive week, garnering 616 points. It is the first time since the 2009 season that Salisbury has been the No. 1 team for three-straight weeks.
State University of New York at Cortland and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater remain at the Nos. 2-and-3 spots with 589 and 588 points, respectively.
Jumping into the top five for the first time is Heidelberg University who took the fourth spot with 484 points, while Kean University still holds up fifth in the nation with 479 points.
The top three teams remain the same in the ABCA poll with Wisconsin-Whitewater, Cortland State, and Salisbury taking the spots, respectively.
The University of St. Thomas moved up to No. 4 after previously being ranked outside of the top five, while Heidelberg took fifth in the coaches' poll, moving up from the seventh spot from last week.
The Sea Gulls will be in action Tuesday night when they take on the Baltimore Orioles single-A affiliate Delmarva Shorebirds in an exhibition game at Perdue Stadium. The first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
