YORK, Pa. – Helping the No. 3 Salisbury University baseball team to a perfect 6-0 tally last week, sophomore shortstop Pete Grasso earned Capital Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Grasso went 11-for-25 at the plate last week for a .440 batting average, registering a home run, a triple and a double out of the 11 hits. The Wilmington, Delaware native made it home 12 times while recording five RBIs. Through the six games, he at least connected on one hit.
On the defensive end, the sophomore was a part of turning four double plays from the shortstop position.
For the year, Grasso is the third Sea Gull to earn a baseball accolade by the league.
Grasso and the Gulls take on St. Mary's College of Maryland in a league doubleheader this afternoon, before taking on the Baltimore Orioles' minor league affiliate Delmarva Shorebirds in an exhibition game on Wednesday night at Perdue Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
