SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University baseball team moved up in both national polls, earning the No. 1 spot in the D3baseball.com Top 25 poll and taking No. 3 in the American Baseball Coaches' Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Baseball Poll, the organizations announced.
D3baseball.com has Salisbury as its top-ranked team in the nation, moving up three spots from last week. This is the first No. 1 ranking for the Sea Gulls since SU was named the unanimous No. 1 team on March 19, 2013. The Gulls accumulated a total of 595 points for the top spot, just one point more than No. 2 State University of New York at Cortland.
The Sea Gulls moved up two spots in the ABCA poll from No. 5, after having another undefeated week of action. SU has started the season with a 10-0 record and is the only unbeaten team left in the top 30. The Sea Gulls tallied a total of 443 points in the poll.
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater received the No. 1 ranking in the ABCA poll, while D3baseball.com placed the Warhawks at No. 3 in its poll. Both polls gave Cortland State the No. 2 spot, and had University of St. Thomas and Birmingham-Southern College at Nos. 4-and-5, respectively.
Salisbury will take on Marymount (Va.) University on Wednesday, March 25 in a Capital Athletic Conference matchup at the SU Baseball Field. The first pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
