Sea Gulls jump three spots in both and ABCA/College Baseball polls

MINNEAPOLIS – After a 3-0 week, the Salisbury University baseball team continued its upward trend heading into postseason play in both the and American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball poll, the organizations announced Tuesday.

The Sea Gulls passed the 30-win mark with a win over Johns Hopkins University on Monday and ended the week with a doubleheader sweep against the College of Staten Island on Saturday. With those wins, Salisbury (32-7) jumped three spots in each poll.

Salisbury moved up to No. 7 in the poll with 417 points.

There is a new team atop the landscape, as Webster University moved up a spot to claim the No. 1 position this week. Webster garnered 12 first-place votes and 579 points.

University of Wisconsin at Whitewater were awarded nine first-place votes and sit 10 points behind Webster, moving up from the No. 4 spot last week. Linfield College picked up the final three votes for the top spot and have 547 points to come in at No. 3 this week, down from the top spot last week.

Concordia University Chicago dropped a spot, coming in at No. 4 this week with 504 points. The State University of New York at Cortland rounded out the top five, 10 points behind Concordia Chicago.

In the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball poll, the Sea Gulls are up to No. 9 with 336 points.

Linfield remained atop the poll, with 13 first-place votes and 477 points. Webster captured the remaining three top votes and 464 points.

UW-Whitewater checks in at No. 3, with 435 points. Trinity (Texas) University remained in the No. 4 position, 12 points behind Whitewater. Up two spots this week to round out the top five in the ABCA/College Baseball poll is California Lutheran University, taking 411 points.

The Sea Gulls will wrap up the regular season tomorrow, traveling to New Jersey to take on Montclair State University. That contest is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
