SALISBURY, Md. – The Capital One Academic All-District Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, were announced for baseball on Thursday and Salisbury University junior Dan Fein earned the honor in District 2 for the first time in his career.
Fein, a starting pitcher, has six wins this season, second on the team, to go with a 3.94 ERA, which ranks in the top 20 in the Capital Athletic Conference. The Southbury, Conn., native has started 11 games on the hill for the Sea Gulls this season, and struck out 51 in 75 1/3 innings.
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on his team. Fein boasts a 4.00 grade-point average, and is majoring in math education.
Fein is now eligible for selection to the Capital One Academic All-American Team. Salisbury has had four Academic All-Americans in baseball, most recently Andrew Levy, last season. The Academic All-American Team will be announced on Wednesday, May 28.
