SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University baseball team finds itself back in the top 15 in both the D3baseball.com and American Baseball Coaches Association polls, the organizations announced on Tuesday.
With their undefeated run through the Capital Athletic Conference tournament, the Sea Gulls climbed three spots, to No. 14 in the ABCA coaches poll, with 277 points, just three behind No. 13 University of St. Thomas (Minn.).
Linfield College remains atop the poll, with all 16 first-place votes and 480 points, followed by Webster (Mo.) University (449 points) in second. Concordia University Chicago moved up two spots to No. 3, with 434 points, as Trinity (Texas) University dropped a spot to No. 4, with 427 points, and the University Wisconsin-Whitewater (422 points) climbed one spot to No. 5.
In the D3baseball.com poll, the Sea Gulls jumped one position up to No. 15, with 268 points, 34 points clear of No. 16 Cast Western Reserve.
The top-four teams remained the same in this week's poll with Linfield (18 first-place votes and 614 points), Webster (four first-place votes and 593 points), Concordia-Chicago (two first-place votes and 578 points) and Wisconsin-Whitewater (one first-place vote and 561 points) holding in their postions from last week. The University of Southern Maine moved up one to sit at No. 5 this week, with 477 points.
The baseball team returns to action today, traveling to Gallaudet University. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
