SALISBURY, Md. – For the fourth time, the Salisbury University baseball team will take its talents to the professional level, taking on the Delmarva Shorebirds, the Class-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The seven-inning exhibition contest will be held on Tuesday, April 2, beginning at 7:05 p.m., at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
Tickets are $5 each with general admission seating only. Tickets can be purchased on campus, at the Guerrieri University Center Information Desk, or at the Perdue Stadium Box Office.
The Sea Gulls will celebrate National Student-Athlete Day during the evening. The Salisbury University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has chosen to honor Brooke Mulford, a local youth who is battling Neuroblastoma, with a basket raffle. Four themed baskets will be on display on the concourse level of the stadium, behind home plate, and will be raffled off late in the game. Proceeds from the raffle and a portion of proceeds from ticket sales for the game will go to the Brooke Mulford Foundation.
Salisbury is in the middle of a strong 2013 season climbing to the No. 1 ranking in the American Baseball Coaches Association poll for the first time in program history this season, and reaching No. 1in the D3baseball.com poll for the second time in program history.
The Shorebirds will be getting set to kick off their 2013 season, beginning Thursday, April 4 at Perdue Stadium, against the Hagerstown Suns.
The Sea Gulls' next home games after the exhibition will come on Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7, when they host Wesley College in a Capital Athletic Conference series.
