Bennett earns Team of the Week honors for second time

MINNEAPOLIS – Salisbury University senior catcher Tyler Bennett has been named to the Team of the Week, the website announced on Tuesday.

Bennett, who was also named the catcher on the Team of the Week on March 21, hit .500 (8-for-16) with six RBIs, four runs scored, two doubles, one home run and one steal in leading SU to a 3-1 week in the CAC tournament. The Sea Gulls defeated St. Mary's (Md.) College, York (Pa.) College and Wesley College to earn a berth in the CAC championship game.

Bennett's second home run of the season, a two-run blast in the sixth inning against the Wolverines in the semifinals, broke a 4-4 tie and sparked a seven-run rally. A Federalsburg, Md., native, Bennett finished the game 2-for-5 with three runs driven in, two scored the homer and a stolen base.

The Team of the Week is's weekly honor roll, in its inaugural season of recognizing the top performance at each of 13 positions from the previous week.

Top-seeded Salisbury (29-7) will play the winner of the game between fifth-seed Stevenson University and fourth-seed Wesley Saturday at 2 p.m., at the SU Baseball Field.
