Evans named CAC Baseball Athlete of the Week

NORTH HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference athlete of the week awards and Salisbury University freshman infielder Will Evans (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) was named the baseball recipient for the week of April 14.

Evans had a career week as he led the Sea Gulls with a .389 batting average (7-for-18) in six Capital Athletic Conference wins. The rookie shortstop went 5-for-8 against University of Mary Washington in a Sunday doubleheader sweep. He hit his second home run of his collegiate career and drove in eight runs against the Eagles.

For the week, he scored eight runs, drove in 10 RBI, had one double, one home run, was walked nine times, hit by the pitch twice and stole one base. Evans is the third Sea Gull baseball recipient of this award for the 2008 season. Mike Celenza (March 17) and Justin Armiger (February 25) are the two previous award winners.
