SALISBURY, Md. – The impending weather event related to Hurricane Joaquin has forced the cancellation and postponement of all of Salisbury University’s athletic events, both home and away, scheduled for this weekend.
The athletic schedule adjustments are part of a university-wide closing for the weekend, that have cancelled all university activities through Sunday, October 4.
Salisbury was scheduled to compete in cross country, football, field hockey, men’s tennis and men’s and women’s soccer.
Men’s tennis, slated to head to the ITA Southeast Regional Championship at the University of Mary Washington this weekend has cancelled its trip, and cross country, scheduled to host the Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday, has cancelled that event.
Football was tabbed to travel to The College of New Jersey on Saturday, while the soccer teams were scheduled to be at Southern Virginia University on Saturday for a Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader. The women’s soccer team had planned to then head to Bridgewater (Va.) College for a game on Sunday, while field hockey was expected to host Frostburg State University for a CAC match. Those events have all been postponed, with information on any possible reschedules to be announced.
The only other fall sport, volleyball, was not scheduled to be in action this weekend.
The next scheduled events for the Sea Gull teams are scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, as men’s and women’s soccer, field hockey and volleyball are all slated to be in action.
