YORK, Pa. – Salisbury University student-athletes continue to excel both in competition and in the academic realm as the Capital Athletic Conference announced its 2013-14 All-Academic Team and Salisbury had the highest number of qualifiers, with 189 students earning the achievement.
To be eligible, a student-athlete participating in at least one of the league’s 21 championships sports must achieve a 3.2 grade-point average or better for the 2013-14 academic year.
York College of Pennsylvania was second in the total number of student-athletes named to the team, with 170 selections, while Salisbury finished third in the league in the highest percentage of student-athletes named to the team with 48.4 percent of eligible students. The total number of CAC All-Academic honorees and the percentage are both the highest ever for Salisbury.
St. Mary’s College of Maryland and Southern Virginia University tied for the highest percentage, with each hitting 48.7 percent.
In total, a record 1,198 student-athletes earned the league’s recognition, from the 10 full members in the league and two associate members.
