YORK, Pa. – Salisbury University placed 159 student-athletes on the 2012-13 Capital Athletic Conference All-Academic Team to lead the league in selections, the conference announced on Monday.
For the second straight season, Salisbury claimed the top spot, beating out York (Pa.) College, which had 153 honorees.
To be named to the team, student-athletes must have a grade-point average of 3.2 or higher for the academic year, while participating in one or more of the conference's 21 championship sports. Salisbury had 39.4 percent (159 of 404) of its student-athletes named to the team to rank fourth in the CAC in that category. Southern Virginia University placed 52.9 percent of its student-athletes (9 of 17) on the team to lead the league in total percentage. The Knights were only eligible in men’s and women’s cross country this season, but will become full CAC members beginning on July 1.
Salisbury won eight team CAC championships and the league’s Men’s Commissioner’s Award this year.
