SU student-athletes fill 80 boxes for area children during annual present drive
SALISBURY, Md. – In the spirit of giving for the holidays, Salisbury University student-athletes recently participated in their annual shoebox present drive. The drive is run by the Salisbury University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was again a successful event.
This year the student-athletes stuffed 80 shoeboxes with food, games and educational materials for needy children in the Salisbury area. The program, which is now in its third year, was run in conjunction with Glen Avenue Elementary School.
What is a SAAC?
A student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) is a committee made up
of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the
student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the
rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives
on NCAA member institution campuses. Presently, there are separate
national SAACs for NCAA Divisions I, II and III. NCAA legislation
mandates that all member institutions have SAACs on their
respective campuses. Further, NCAA legislation requires that all
member conferences have SAACs.
